Thrive on Less: Political Violence

In our world today, politics is no longer just about governing — it often feels like a battle for the soul of our communities. Too many groups are quick to force their ideas onto others, and if you don’t comply, you risk being silenced, shamed, or even losing your livelihood. Free speech and honest disagreement, once pillars of democracy, are now under attack.

When disagreement leads to cancellation, when conscience becomes punishable, and when violence enters the political arena, we see the fruits of a society that has traded wisdom for ideology. Thrive on Less calls us to step away from this cycle of hostility and return to the foundations of peace, truth, and respect for human dignity.

The Burden of Forced Ideology

During recent years, laws and policies have increasingly pressed citizens to conform to the shifting demands of political movements. From pronoun mandates to contested curriculum in schools, many feel they must deny what is natural, true, or aligned with their faith in order to avoid punishment.

This creates not unity, but deeper division. As Jesus warned:

“Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.”Matthew 12:25

The Fruits of Violence

When words are not enough, some turn to violence. Assassinations, mass shootings, and the celebration of death in political discourse reveal how far we have strayed from the path of righteousness. Political violence does not solve problems; it multiplies wounds.

“Put your sword back in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.”Matthew 26:52

Violence is never a path to justice — it is a symptom of broken hearts and corrupted systems.

Protecting the Little Ones

One of the most troubling aspects of modern politics is the way children are caught in the crossfire. Policies and ideologies are pushed into schools without parental input. Medical decisions with lifelong consequences are debated in courts instead of protected in families. Children are asked to carry burdens they cannot understand.

“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.”Matthew 18:10

When a society stops protecting its children, it loses its moral compass.

A Call to a Better Way

Thrive on Less is not about retreating from the world, but about rejecting what destroys peace. We need:

  • Less violence, more dialogue.
  • Less ideology, more truth.
  • Less profit-driven politics, more family-centered policies.
  • Less fear, more faith.

The way of Christ is not the way of coercion or vengeance. It is the way of conviction, patience, and truth spoken in love.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”Matthew 5:9

Conclusion

To thrive in a time of political violence, we must return to God’s wisdom. We must stand firm in truth without hatred, guard our children without compromise, and pursue peace without surrendering our conscience. The world may pressure us to bow to its demands, but God calls us to a higher way — to thrive not through power or violence, but through faith, courage, and love.

Closing Prayer

Lord of Peace,
In a world torn by anger and violence, help us to walk as peacemakers. Guard our hearts against hatred, and give us courage to stand in truth without fear. Protect our children from ideologies that seek to confuse them and from systems that profit from their pain. Heal our land, and turn us back to You, the only true source of wisdom and peace.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
